Why Grigo developed an antimicrobial film using copper?
The importance of epidemic prevention in daily life cannot be emphasized too much
during and post coronavirus pandemic. Hand disinfectants, quarantine masks and
social distancing are good means to prevent the spread of coronavirus but we need
more than that. We need surfaces that are frequently touched by hands in public
places to have antimicrobial properties. If surfaces, such as doorknobs, had antimicrobial
properties, it could prevent the spread of diseases between persons.
We proudly propose an antimicrobial copper film which turns public surfaces into public
disinfectants. To be effective, the antimicrobial film must be able to kill viruses and bacteria
within a few minutes after they come into touch with the antimicrobial film.
Also the antimicrobial film must be innocuous to humans and the environment.

How effective is Grigo antimicrobial copper film?
It is known that copper has very strong antimicrobial capabilities. The Biology Science
Center of the University of Southampton reported a research paper in mBio magazine
published in November 2015 by The Microbiology Association in the United States that
stated that the Human Coronavirus (HuCoV-229E) inactivated in a few minutes in
a simulated fingertip touch contamination test on copper C11000 (Copper 99.96%).
It was also revealed by an experiment at The Biological Science of University of
Southampton that MRSA ( Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) was killed on
Copper within 9 minutes. Copper is able to kill Gram-positive and Gram-negative
bacteria across all temperatures and all levels of humidity.
Our product is 99.86% copper film.

Is Grigo antimicrobial copper film harmless?
Antimicrobial copper is safe to use and has no harmful effects on humans and the
environment because copper is the only solid metal surface approved by the US-EPA
( United States Environmental Protection Agency) in recognition of their antimicrobial
properties.
Copper is also an essential trace micronutrient necessary for many key metabolic
processes. Since copper is required by humans to live, the human body handles it very
safely and efficiently. Any excessive ingestion of copper is regulated by cell
mechanisms built specifically for that purpose.
Our product is harmless to humans since it consists of thin antimicrobial copper and
non-toxic eco-friendly adhesive and 100% pulp.

What makes Grigo product different from others?
Since organic antimicrobial agents do not have a high antimicrobial persistence, it is
not suitable to use for the antimicrobial film. When copper or silver nanoparticles are
mixed with a binder and applied to PE film, the proportion of the materials deployed
on the surface changes and the applied materials or the coated layer may peel off or
wear out when they are cleaned which make it difficult to secure its antimicrobial
effect and the persistence of the antimicrobial power.
According to each manufacturer¡¯s announcement, 99.9% of bacteria die within 24
hours on their antimicrobial film. However, the bacteria can still infect people that come
in contact with these surfaces within that time.
By contrast, our antimicrobial film is composed of 100% antimicrobial copper, which
kills MRSA within 6~9 minutes and Human coronavirus within a few minutes. If it is
kept clean, it has a permanent antimicrobial effect and the antimicrobial duration is also
permanent. It is composed of a flexible materials easily applied to surfaces, and
harmless to humans and the environment.
